Special Investigation Newsletter

Welcome to our Newsletter,
Council Watch Fleurieu Inc. has released a Special Investigation Newsletter examining the recent deputation by Carlos Quaremba to the City of Victor Harbor Council on 27 April 2026.

This edition focuses on the broader implications of Mr Quaremba’s address, particularly his outlined direction for proposed reforms to local government in South Australia. These include measures aimed at strengthening accountability of elected members, reviewing governance practices, and addressing structural inefficiencies within council administration.

The newsletter places these developments in context, highlighting how Victor Harbor has been positioned within the wider reform discussion and why the issues raised may have statewide significance.

This is an opportunity to share a clear, structured analysis of emerging policy directions that could affect councils, ratepayers, and community governance moving forward.

We encourage you to circulate the newsletter to your networks for awareness and informed discussion.

The time for change is now.

  1. unfortunately Mr Quaremba was not transparent during the State Election as the PHON party was not transparent therefore there is very little comfort that I can take from these words and even less from Council Watch.

      1. Kieth,

thank you for your reply, even if a little sarcastic.

        My point was not addressed.

the Honourable Carlos Quaremba MLC is now a representative of a Political Party PHON that has a standing policy of not providing interviews with the ABC.

This is a deliberate strategy of not providing access to their Candidates so removing Accountability and Transparency.

You have recently published the Honourable Carlos Quaremba MLC maiden speech and only this politicians maiden speech.

This is why I have asked if there is any political affiliation by CW its officers or members with any Political Party.

This information would give me comfort.

        Regards Ron Phillips

      2. Hi Ron
I did not know that the On Nation Party has this standing policy, you seem to know a lot more about this matter than I do.
We are not a political organisation so I cannot comment on what party each and every member supports, this is just not important to us.
When I have tried in the past to get answers from you (when you asked about our manifesto) you do not answer.
Carlos’s speech was published because he is the only VH Councilor to be elected to the Upper House.
Please give me some comfort and tell me why the questions? No one is forcing you to read the Newsletters and if the news upsets you just do not read them.
However thank you for our interest in what we write.
Excuse my sarcasm but that is just how I am (at times).
        All the best Keith
